PETITION TO ESTABLISH 2500-FT HUMAN HEALTH AND SAFETY BUFFER BETWEEN OIL AND GAS DRILLING SITES AND RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS IN LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles should lead the way in protecting families from the health and safety impacts of oil drilling. Given what we know about the health and safety risks, the Los Angeles City Council cannot delay action any longer, and must take the necessary steps to passing an ordinance for a 2,500 feet buffer. Angelenos deserve clean air. We want to end urban oil drilling in neighborhoods across Los Angeles.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to pass a 2,500 ft buffer between active oil wells and homes, schools and hospitals to protect community health because exposure to toxic air contaminants such as benzene and other carcinogens is most significant and most harmful within ½ mile of active oil and gas development.
