Stop Institutionalized Abuse at School for Troubled Teens

A gay teenager's account of her time at a reform school in Utah is spreading across the Internet. The anonymous graduate details the Cross Creek Programs' culture of bullying and harassment, where staff members physically and mentally abuse students, tell rape victims that they are "asking for it" and use gay slurs.

Cross Creek is just one of a number of programs affiliated with the Worldwide Association of Specialty Programs and Schools (WWASP). Many of these schools have been shut down because of documented abuse. But Cross Creek continues to torture and brainwash students.

That's why we're calling on Utah governor Gary Herbert to close Cross Creek.
Dear Governor Herbert,

I am writing to express concern over the Cross Creek Programs, a La Verkin-based reform school for troubled youth.

Cross Creek, like many of its affiliated schools across the United States and abroad, uses severe mental and physical abuse as part of their "therapy"; excessive force against nonviolent students, humiliating, victim blaming and gay slurs are just some of the alleged tactics staff members use.

I respectfully ask that you take steps to close Cross Creek.

Sincerely,
