Speak Up for National Monuments

Bears Ears National Monument in southeastern Utah is home to vast sandstone canyons, towering buttes, juniper forests, and one of the most significant archaeological areas in the U.S. This region includes an alarming number of cultural sites, including some that are sacred to the nearby Hopi, Navajo, Ute, and other Native American tribes.

Now the Department of the Interior and the White House have decided to shrink the size of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments, leaving some of these sites vulnerable to looting and degradation.

The reality is simple: Cultural and ecological treasures like Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments need more protection, not less. That's why you need to speak up right now.

Stand up and show Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke and President Donald Trump that you oppose shrinking national monuments. We cannot afford to sacrifice the important treasures these places protect.
Dear President Trump and Secretrary Zinke,

I stand in firm support of the original boundaries and designation of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. These special landscapes are home to some of the most culturally significant Native American archaeological sites in the U.S., and we cannot afford to roll back protections.

I oppose changing the borders of these national monuments and am disappointed in this short-sighted decision. Our most important lands need more protection, not less.
