Urge your legislators to support on-bill financing

Rooftop solar is a smart investment for Minnesotans, but financing the upfront costs can be a barrier for many who want to go solar. One innovative solution used around the country is "on-bill" financing.

On-bill financing will allow Minnesotans to own a rooftop solar system and pay back its cost over time through their monthly electric bill. Bill SF 3132/HF 3966 is being considered by the state legislature that would make it possible for Minnesota utilities to set up on-bill financing for residential rooftop solar, battery storage, as well as other clean and energy efficiency projects.

Please contact your representative and senator today to urge them to support this bill. Tell them that on-bill financing can help more Minnesota residents to go solar, and that rooftop solar lowers energy costs, provides greater energy resilience and security, and creates more homegrown, family-supporting solar jobs throughout the state.

Take action to support solar energy in Minnesota.
Dear [elected official],

I am writing to urge you to support the on-bill financing bill (SF 3132 / HF 3966) to help more Minnesotans to go solar. The bill would that would make it possible for electric utilities to set up on-bill financing for residential roof-top solar, battery storage, and other clean and energy efficiency projects.

On-bill financing is a smart and efficient way to help homeowners deal with the upfront costs of solar rooftop projects. On-bill financing enables utilities to pay for the solar system, and solar homeowner pay back the loan through small monthly payments on their regular utility bills.
