Demand a stop to the storage unit and 7-Eleven at Doby's Bridge and Fort Mill Expressway

The residents in the neighborhoods surrounding the Doby's Bridge area are strongly against the plans to build a 7-Eleven and a self-storage facility at the proposed site located at the intersection of Doby's Bridge Rd. & Fort Mill Southern By-pass. There is an elementary school less than 50 yards from the proposed site. This poses a threat to our children. An ABC News report stated self-storage facilities experience crime such as burglary or assault once every two months on average. This type of facility should NOT be located next to an elementary school. Additionally, convenience stores such as 7-Eleven are often popular targets for crime such as shoplifting and armed robbery. These facilities should not be placed adjacent to an elementary school for the safety of our children.

The residents in the nearby neighborhoods would recommend this space be used for retail business similar to the businesses located in Baxter Village, which attract families who live in the community, rather than businesses that potentially attract crime and provide no benefit to the residents in the nearby neighborhoods. Further, the proposed self-storage and 7-Eleven will undoubtably reduce the value of our homes due to the potential for an increase in crime. We are strongly against this.

In case you haven't heard, we have built a website dedicated to this cause. https://www.kidshealthandsafety.com/ It has been belt to help educate those that do know the harmful effects of the gas fumes and toxins it produces. We are still working on content for the storage facilities, but it is a good start. I would like to also add that I had a very good phone conversation yesterday and I think we are finally headed down the right pathway.
Thanks you for your support. Keep spreading the news

Little update from the meeting. There were three of us that stood up speak. We had a lot to say, but only 3 minutes each to speak. We did walk away with a good takeaway, which we need to monopolize on very quickly. The mayor stated, and I quote, "we can not choose a brand". She said that multiple times. I feel like she was leading us not to focus on the name 7-eleven, but rather the line, gas stations. We need a lawyer now, one that does land use and zoning to help us proceed. Help! Anyone.
