Help Kevin Bring Navajo Language and Cultural Materials To His Community

All over the United States, Native American youth are working to promote entrepreneurship in their communities. In Crownpoint, New Mexico, Kevin Belin (Navajo) dreams of developing his project Hashké - Hozhó Design & Collaborative (HHD&C). HHD&C would involve providing language and cultural materials and a resource initiative to create differentiated approaches to learning the Navajo language and culture.

"As an Diné educator, I see that our students are not learning the Navajo language," says Kevin. "Community members speak fluently with each other, but our students converse in English."

Kevin envisions HHD&C becoming a full-time press and publisher of language acquisition curriculum, materials and resources, but he realizes that first his dream must become a self-sustaining and profitable company. Ultimately, he would like to create a community center for the people of Crownpoint and eventually have it transition to a school.

As one of Running Strong's "Dreamstarters," Kevin is one of 10 remarkable Native American young people who dream of promoting entrepreneurship in their communities. We can help make his dreams come true.

Sign the pledge and support Kevin's dream of creating the Hozhó Design & Collaborative to provide language and cultural materials to his community.
