On June 1st, 2017, the US Government initiated withdrawal from the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. Global climate change is at a very critical stage and we must act now if we want to avert its worst effects. We cannot wait for the US Federal Government to take action.
Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara, we the undersigned are your constituents and concerned citizens. We urge you to sign on as a Climate Mayor, thereby pledging that Rockford Illinois will uphold and honor the goals set by the Paris Climate Agreement. You can do this by going to climatemayors.org and adding Rockford to the growing list of over 375 US cities. The time to act on climate change is now, and if the federal level will not show leadership, we must turn to the state and local levels.
