Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has introduced a bill that would prevent the EPA's "Good Neighbor Rule" from being implemented and saving thousands of lives a year.
The Good Neighbor Rule, officially the Cross State Air Pollution Rule, would protect communities situated downwind from states that produce dangerous levels of smog and soot pollution from power plants. The rule will save up to 34,000 lives, prevent 400,000 asthma attacks and avoid 1.8 million lost work and school days due to respiratory illnesses every year.
Not only would Paul's bill throw out the Good Neighbor Rule, it could also prevent the EPA from ever issuing a similar rule without explicit new Congressional authorization.
We can't afford to allow air pollution to literally poison our loved ones. Tell your Senators to oppose this outrageous and deadly assault on our health.

I strongly oppose Senator Rand Paul's assault on clean air.
S.J. Res 27 would not only permanently block a life-saving clean air rule that would save up to 34,000 lives every year -- it could potentially prevent EPA from ever issuing a similar rule again.
With 7 million children living with asthma in the U.S. and 410,000 infants being exposed to dangerous mercury levels in the womb a year, we cannot afford to allow more pollution to continue poisoning out children and ourselves.
The Paul will would use the Congressional Review Act to invalidate EPA's new Cross State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR), and prevent EPA from ever issuing a substantially similar rule to limit air pollution that crosses from one state to another. If the Paul bill passes, it will cost tens of thousands of premature deaths per year, not to mention millions of lost work and school days due to illnesses and billions of dollars in health care costs.
We need strong air pollution rules that protect Americans and children, not polluters.
