Give Rights to Children in Afghanistan!

Children are the future of the world. What they do today will affect our tomorrow. However, in Afghanistan, children are not valued for their potential; rather for their usefulness as sexual objects and human shields in lines of fire.

In a country where there is a law against adult pornography, but not child pornography, an adult has the right to legally do anything they please with a child. Children aren't sent off to school but put to work every day.The court can even give a child, no matter how young, to an afflicted party "for compensation" in the event of a lawsuit.

The way these children are treated is horrifying, and sadly, there are no rights to protect them. The situation is getting worse, as there was a recent cut to the budget for the state's Independent Human Rights Commission.

These children have no voice in Afghanistan. Be the voices for these children and tell the Embassy of Afghanistan to urge the Afghan government to issue rights that will protect them!
Dear Mr. Abdul Hakim Atarud,

The children of Afghanistan are in desperate need of care and attention. They are treated like accessories, handed off as sexual slaves, used as human shields in the line of fire and forced to work under harsh conditions instead of getting an education.

The budget for Afghanistan's Independent Human Rights Commission has been cut this year. It is important to understand that children are the future of the world and deserve to have rights too. Most children that make it past the age of five in Afghanistan are irreversibly stunted, both physically and mentally.

The current attitude towards children is horrendous and sickening. If children continue to get treated this way, what kind of adults can they be expected to grow up to be? Save these children from a life of turmoil and trauma and urge the Afghan government to give children rights that will protect them!
