Stop Notch Peak / Devil's Canyon Land Exchange

The signers of this petition are opposed to the proposed Notch Peak / Devil's Canyon Land Exchange.

A legislative land exchange proposal is being developed involving public lands in the Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest, west of Wheatland, Wyoming.  Although a formal proposal is not complete at this time, it is believed that such a proposal is imminent.  Additionally, it is possible that a legislative land exchange may only assume the designation of a formal proposal following the introduction of a bill to the US Congress.  It is known that this land exchange will permanently eliminate approximately 5,080.84 acres of federally owned land from the Laramie Mountain Range, west of Wheatland, while creating 804 acres of new public land within the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest.  It is also known that as a component of this exchange; 2,979 acres of private land will be conveyed to the BLM in Bighorn County, Wyoming.  It is known that the federal lands located in the Laramie Mountain range are widely used by sportsmen and women for such activities as hunting, fishing, hiking, rock climbing, camping and other uses for public enjoyment.

The signatures on this petition will be forwarded to the Governor of Wyoming and our Congressional Representatives asking them to oppose the land exchange which would negatively impact the residents of Southeastern Wyoming.

We the undersigned DO NOT SUPPORT THE ABOVE REFERENCED LAND EXCHANGE and ask for your support preventing this initiative as not being in the best interest of all stakeholders in the State of Wyoming.
