Get Women on Morning News Shows

Despite growing ranks of female experts in fields ranging from national security and military spending to technology and health care, women continue to be drastically underrepresented in the news media as shapers of policy and leading voices of experience and authority on critical issues.

According to a 2005 White House Project report, only 9 per cent of the guests on Sunday morning news shows such as Meet the Press and Face the Nation are women, and even then they only speak 10 per cent of the time — leaving 90 per cent of the discussion to the male guests. Lack of representation for women can have profound consequences on whether or not women are perceived as competent leaders. Authority is created by shows like these.

Call on NBC and CBS to equally represent women experts on Meet the Press and Face the Nation. Tell the executives at these networks that if they want to maintain female viewership, they need to start hosting more female experts on the news now!
To the executives of NBC and CBS:

Shows like Meet the Press and Face the Nation create authority. Despite growing ranks of female experts in fields ranging from national security and military spending to technology and health care, women still represent no more than 9% of the guests on your Sunday morning shows.

Please equally represent women experts on Meet the Press and Face the Nation. If you want to maintain female viewership, start hosting more women on the news now!

Sincerely,
