Vermont and Manchester "Stop" Eminent Domain

Constituents and/or stakeholders in the 90044-zip code and the surrounding areas demand that the County withdraw/dismiss their petition to the court for eminent domain on or before April 23, 2018 in association with the Vermont and Manchester Project. A hearing date is set for April 23, 2018.

Further, Councilman Marqueece Dawson Harris endorsed the eminent domain without seeking feedback from the community before the eminent domain process began. Currently, he appears to be unresponsive to our ongoing concerns. He has not attended any Neighbor Council meetings as repeatedly requested by the stakeholders. In part, because the Southwest and Southeast Neighbor Councils refused to address our concerns in the following ways: by not presenting our impassioned disagreements with the eminent domain in their representation of the community and their fellow neighbors; the inappropriate failure to take a requested vote during a neighborhood council meeting; and the postponement of Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2018.

This is an urgent matter; and time is of the essence. We demand a stop to the eminent domain.

The constituents and/or stakeholders want revitalization: a health food specialty grocery store, fitness center, coffee shop, retail stores, restaurants, dance studio etc.... Not a boarding school. We need to develop our community first in lieu of taking on other burdens. We are taxpayers. Our voice matters! Please raise your voice in agreement by signing this petition today.
