Minister and Commissioner,

RE: Request Minister and/or Commissioner of Police Appoint Piet Byleveld and Gerard Labuschagne to the SAPS Team investigating the Murder of Mr. Eugene Terreblanche.

We herewith request the South African Police Services (SAPS) Officers Piet Byleveld and Dr. Gerard Labuschagne be appointed to the Team investigating the murder of Mr. Eugene Terre'Blanche. This request is based upon the following:

[1] The brutal -- perhaps political -- murder of Eugene Terre Blanche, a high profile political figure, necessitates that the investigation into his death be conducted by impartial investigators who are resistant to any and all political pressure, and who are unequivocally in search for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth;

[2] There are many inconsistencies, contradictions, allegations and subsequent withdrawn allegations and unfounded leaks indicating plausible character assassination of Mr. Terre'Blanche via the media, and many unanswered questions regarding the investigation of Mr. Terre'blanche's murder. These circumstances indicate the need for highly professional impartial investigators, resistant to political pressure, skilled in psychological profiling and with an unswerving commitment to the unvarnished truth;

[3] If it is true that the murder of Mr. Terre'Blanche was not "Kill Farmer"  politically or "Kill Farmer" gang-culture* motivated - i.e. 'Kill Farmer' for gang or political hero status - then a professional investigation would require professional psychological profilers to make such a determination, including its converse. (* As you are undoubtedly aware, in 'Nongoloza/Numbers' gang culture, those who kill a farmer are accorded automatic membership of the 27's gang; The Number, Johnny Steinberg);

[4] If it is true that the two individuals currently being charged with the crime are indeed guilty thereof then it is important they be convicted on the facts and evidence; if, however, they are, being or have been coerced or bribed to act as patsies in exchange for political or gang-hero status then a grave injustice shall be committed against them, their families, the family of Mr. Terre'Blanche, and the AWB - Not to mention the further polarisation of race relations in South Africa;

[5] For the aforementioned reasons we are concerned that it is plausible justice is not being done.  We are equally concerned with the perception of incomplete or errant justice which would unavoidably raise suspicions that there has been, or currently is, improper forces interfering with the course of justice in this matter. We request that you heed the words of Lord Chief Justice Hewart, that ".... a long line of cases shows that it is not merely of some importance but is of fundamental importance that justice should not only be done, but should manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be done. .... Nothing is to be done which creates even a suspicion that there has been an improper interference with the course of justice." [R v. Essex Justices, Ex parte McCarthy, Kings Bench Division];

[6] Mr. Byleveld and Mr. Labuschagne are two of the SAPS top investigators whom we trust to be impartial, resistant to any and all political pressures, and unequivocally committed to the search for the truth in their investigations. As you are no doubt aware, their world renowned qualifications and investigative experience include offender profiling, linkage analysis, investigative guidelines, crime scene assessments, interrogations, risk assessments, and expert evidence.

Accordingly, we appeal to you to Appoint Mr. Piet Byleveld & Dr. Gerard Labuschagne to the SAPS Team investigating the murder of Mr. Terre'blanche. Their direct, impartial involvement in this investigation will reveal the truth regarding who participated in Mr. Terre'Blanche's murder and why they were involved.

Allow us to thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

Respectfully Submitted,
