Don't Teach About Ex-Gay Therapy in Schools!

  • by: Care2 Team
  • recipient: Anoka-Hennepin School District

Anoka-Hennepin School District in Minnesota currently has a policy that prohibits the discussion of LGBT issues. They are now working to change this policy, and a conservative Christian parent group called the "Parents Action League" has come forward to demand their own changes in the policy.

This includes teaching about ex-gay and ex-transgender therapy and GRID or gay-related-immune-deficiency, which hasn't been used to talk about HIV and AIDS for 25 years, and is not only outdated, but is also inaccurate.

They also want to make sure that all school psychologists and counselors use ex-gay and ex-transgender information and resources when carrying out their duties.

This district saw 6 students commit suicide in less than 2 years (many of which were gay) under the school district's policy of not talking about LGBT issues at all.

Tell Anoka-Hennepin School District to reject this dangerous and incorrect policy now!

Dear Anoka-Hennepin School District,

While in the process of changing your policy for LGBT issues, a conservative Christian parent group called the "Parents Action League" came forward and demanded Anoka-Hennepin School District implement anti-gay policies such as teaching about ex-gay and ex-transgender therapy, and GRID. This information is inaccurate and discriminatory in nature.

It is also very dangerous to put this into a school district that saw 6 students take their own lives in less than 2 years.

Please reject this harmful policy and put into place a policy that respects all students.
