Don't Punish Indonesians for "Blasphemy"!

  • by: Care2 Team

An atheist in Indonesia was arrested and could face a maximum sentence of five years in jail for questioning the existence of God, or more specifically, "blasphemy".

He was also attacked outside of where he works, the Dharmasraya Development Planning Board, by a mob who included some of his colleagues after writing "God does not exist" on a Facebook account he has related to atheism.

Everyone has the right to their own beliefs. Tell the Indonesian government that this is a violation of the freedom of expression and to not punish people for "blasphemy"!

Dear Government of Indonesia,

Please do not prosecute Indonesian citizens for the crime of "blasphemy". A man was just arrested  in your country for this after he questioned the existence of God, and is now facing up to five years in prison.

Everyone has the right to their own beliefs and to the freedom of expression.
