Petition: BARC Employee Should Be Fired For Killing 8 animals & trial in court for each animal!

  • by: L. Ramos
  • recipient: Ken Magidson, District Attorney, Harris County, Texas
This petition is to help speak out for those animals who were killed by neglect of a human being who is an employee at BARC in Houston, Texas. Less than a year ago this girl was hired as an ACO (Animal Control Officer) with the city of Houston and part of the ACO's responsibility is to care for these animals which ride with her. On August 26th, 2008 eight dogs died while in her care; 2 were dead upon arrival and 6 more died later due to the heat as well. (The name will not yet be released to the public but is a female employee who has not met her one year probation period yet.)
One of the rules to follow are to check on your animals about every hour or two hours which would include opening up the doors of the truck. Keep in mind there are NO doors or windows back there and it is dark.  There is a fan that could be turned on if need be as well. It is obvious she did not check on these animals.
-BARC is already a high kill shelter and Kent Robertson who was there 2 years tried to make it a no-kill shelter- that did not happen before he resigned. Our highly populated community does not need more people like her to kill more animals that what already is being killed everyday there at BARC. This is not the 1st employee that this has happened to- this is only the first one going public because a volunteer decided to speak up for those poor dogs!
**If you agree that this is unfair and agree that these animals should have supporters speak out for them then please sign this petition.
**If you believe that this employee representing BARC in Houston, Texas should be fired and or arrested then tried in court as an animal neglect in Harris County Court House, then please sign this petition.
**To make a statement and stop this from happening again and again and if you care about the well being of helpless animals, then please sign this petition.
<<Pass this on to more believers of animal rights-1000 signatures needed>>

Dearest Mr. Magidson,
It is not right that people should be allowed to get away with animal neglect when it is human's responsibility to care for them. It is for the best interest of those who can not speak for themselves that "we the people" speak out for them; the animals. As you might know, 8 animals died in the care of a city employee due to heat exhaustion on August 26th, 2008.
If more cases (like the situation at BARC) were taken seriously, then employees and other citizens would be more conscious and aware of the true responsibilities one takes in to their own hands when caring for animals. The law says we should not neglect or be cruel to animals and "we the people" who signed this petition want this case to be brought in to court as such. American's need to realize that animals have rights too and they can not treat them with such disregard.
*We are in favor of this unnamed city employee to be legally responsible for her actions: (1) Neglect of 8 animals and (2) Cruelty of 8 animals. This includes a court trial and being sentenced if the jury finds her guilty.
Please consider our petition to be a true concern with utmost importance.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to us speak out on the behalf of animals who cannot.
