Bring Humanity Back from the Brink of Extinction

This petition is directed to be read into the public record of the United Nations General Assembly.
It is clear that the I.P.C.C. report has clearly determined and correctly identified that the Earth is warming due to human activity. This petition is a call to action to any and all human beings capable of effecting a preservation effort in the matter of preventing humanity from self-extinction.
The current policies in place are insufficient to prevent or slow the unfolding global catastrophe that faces humanity as a whole. The current paradigm of thought for possible survival with current industrial practices in the face of drastic climate shifts is irresponsible and borders on species suicide. There has been a prolonged and concerted effort of colossal monetary resources that has been dedicated to the suppression and/or misdirection of alternative energy sources, as to have a sizable effect on research and development for the past 100 years.   The petitioners asking for the release of governmentally and privately suppressed research on alternative methods of energy generation and utilization.
To the Secretary of the United Nations General Assembly; Ban Ki-moon,

We the undersigned petition the honorable secretary of the United Nations General Assembly to declare human induced global climate change as a threat to the very survival of human existence. In addition, this threat requires a public announcement of general amnesty for intervening parties of the past and present.  By intervening parties, we mean, those agencies or entities that sought out discoveries and inventors that had developed means to provide non-destructive energy in a theoretical or practical manner.  Those parties shall not face recrimination by the general assembly, however future transgressions that suppress beneficial efforts in reducing human global impacts will not be immune to retaliation by private or sovereign governmental entities.
There is a desperate need to insure the continued survival of the human species.  Survival is the paramount drive for all species on this planet.   As the dominant species, the meaning of survival requires us  to consider the future of humanity in a much longer time frame that just the span of a few lifetimes.  The world cannot be sustained with the current practices in place. We must move in a drastically different direction away from our self-destruction.  We have learned the lesson from the Cold War.  It  is in our best interest not to condemn the next generation to face a slow, agonizing and hopeless extinction.

We thank you for you time in regarding this letter honorable sir and wish that you take great care in considering that gravity of our collective predicament.
