Change DWI Laws in Alabama

Over 2 years ago a good friend of mine was hit head on by a drunk driver on a Saturday afternoon. Were thankful that no one was killed in the accident but the fact remains that someone could've died. The accident happen less than a block away from a Christian Academy that teaches children k-12. I just thank god it wasn't during school hours but many children do live and play in this general area.
In the state of Alabama the law states a driver who is charged with their first DWI is a misdemeanor. The charge doesn't become a felony until the 4th time that they are caught driving under the influence. This law has given to many drunk drivers the opportunity to cause harm to themselves as well as others.
The law should be changed to where if your caught on your second time around the drivers license should be revoked and charged with Felony DWI. On their 3rd Felony DWI jail time of 6 months should be given or having the felon work for their city morgue and report to accidents where DWI is a factor. This way the person is able to see clearly how drinking and driving affects everyone.
