Cruiselines Protest
We the people should not have been watching helplessly as so many people were killed and suffered cruel and inhumane deaths.
The cruiselines declined to acknowledge our requests to jump in and provide, temporary shelter which could have spared the rapings of young women, men and children, which could have served as temporary medical facilities until future help arrived, which could have served as a common ground where medical and food supplies could have been easily dispensed.
Disney offered a mere 100,000 dollars during the height of the catastrophe which is a slap in the face of all the money they have made off of the backs of the many Haitian employees and residents throughout the years.
While Royal Caribbean offered supplies many days later and honored their tourism calls to Haiti days after the earthquake, they could have easily done more to save lives.
It is amazing that when these big corporations need OUR bailout money, they expect the world to cower to their needs. UNACCEPTABLE!
It is this greed and apathy for humanity that we declare a formal protest on the Cruiseline industry.
There were many people of all nations and socio-economic backgrounds that were affected by this earthquake and they chose to do next to nothing. They have sent a clear message that lives are meaningless to them and only dollars matter in their world.
Please stand up and be counted, for your life, the lives lost in Haiti, and the survivors.
May God Bless Us ALL
We, the undersigned, understand that the cruiselines have donated what they think they can donate to Haiti and we appreciate that. However, providing money, food, water and supplies will be a waste of time if those who are receiving those donations are living in unsanitary conditions such as the streets of Port-au-Prince, Leogane and Jacmel. The streets are dusty and smell of corpses. The possibility of epidemic outbreaks is at 100 %. Many young girls have been raped, which can result in more trauma, unwanted pregnancies, and AIDS infection. $20, 000 people are dying a day because of the unfit environment they are living in.
We are not asking you to do the impossible, each of you can send at least one ship to provide temporary shelter for the most vulnerable of the population such as children, the elderly and pregnant women. Please do not continue to say no to our plea like you have for the past weeks as we are ready to boycott the cruiseline industry. Sending your ships will make a positive impact on both the lives of the earthquake victims and your business.
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and please take heed.
