Dear Ralph: Please Don't Run

Ralph Nader has just declared his third campaign for president of the United States, claiming that no candidate is seriously addressing the issues that matter to Americans. Yet this primary season has seen record voter turnout so far, especially among young and first time voters, and especially for Democratic candidates. Clearly, progressives are inspired.

This election is crucial for the future of our country. We must reverse the disastrous course that George Bush has set us on. It is critical for progressives to come together behind a candidate who can win in November. For this reason, we respectfully ask Ralph Nader to bow out of the race for president and support the winning Democratic Party nominee.

Dear Ralph Nader -

We must respectfully ask you to end your candidacy for president of the United States and to support the winning Democratic Party nominee this November. We respect all of the hard work you do on behalf of the American people, but we feel that building a progressive coalition behind the Democratic nominee is in the best interests of this country.

We must reverse the disastrous course that George Bush has set us on, and we can't afford to lose votes to a candidate who will not win. This year is too critical for the future of our democracy - it is not the year to make a statement with your candidacy.

Please withdraw from the 2008 race for president - for the good of our country.

Respectfully,
