Elephant Conditions at New Bedford Zoo

I recently came across this video of the 2 elephants on display at the New Bedford Zoo in Massachusetts: http://www.flickr.com/photos/f7oor/5401406456/

Elephants are highly intelligent and sentient animals that suffer in captivity. We ask that caretakers at the zoo actively monitor how the public treat animals on exhibit to ensure that they are treated humanely. Yelling at animals is a behavior that should not be allowed in a what is already a very stressful environment for captive animals.

Please sign the petition and please post to your Facebook.
We the undersigned ask that conditions for elephants at the New Bedford Zoo are inspected by professionals who understand elephant society and who practice humane, ethical conditions. We ask that the staff at the New Bedford Zoo regularly monitor all animal exhibits to ensure that the kind of behavior exhibited in this video not be allowed: http://www.flickr.com/photos/f7oor/5401406456/

Thank you for reading this petition. We will continue to monitor conditions at the New Bedford Zoo.
