EQUAL SENTENCING---NO MORE 100 TO 1 RATIO
WE, the undersigned strongly and firmly support the elimination of federal and state Crack Cocaine laws that unjustly incarcerate disproportionally minority and poor defendants for longer sentences. For the past 23 years this injustice has been allowed to continue. "TO THIS WE SAY NO MORE" AND "LET MY PEOPLE GO" NOW!!!!!!!!!
All changes in laws should and must be RETROACTIVE. for current inmates to have their sentences reduced to reasonable and rational terms.
"We the undersigned" are aware that Equal Sentencing legislation is currently moving through the halls of Congress. Both the House of Representatives and the Senate are working to undo the 100 to 1 ratio for powder cocaine vs crack cocaine enacted 23 years ago. Law makers recognize the need to reverse this disparity and we (family, friends and righteous people of God) must support their efforts. We are also advocating for the reduction of harsh sentences already in place. We further, advocate for any new laws to be applied retroactively, to give deserving inmates a second chance at life and freedom.
Our time spent advocating for Equal Sentencing, signing the petition, visiting/talking/emailing our loved ones, or writing our congressperson; hopefully, will not be in vain. I was always told,
"ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE", then by that token,
"TOGETHER WE CAN MOVE CONGRESS TO DO THE RIGHT THING" "YES WE CAN".
