Faux fur for Queen's guards' caps

  • by: Alison Jones
  • recipient: Des Browne, Minister of Defence
Despite being given examples of synthetic alternatives, the Minister of Defence continues to pay hundreds of thousands of pounds to killers of black bears in Canada.
These bears are enticed with food before being shot several times. Those who escape injured die painfully and slowly from blood loss, gangrene and starvation.
Nursing mothers are shot, leaving orphaned cubs to die of starvation.
Each of these purely ceremonial caps is made using the carcass of a Canadian black bear. The Minister of Defence claims to have found no "suitable alternative". Please sign this petition and let Des Browne know that you are not fooled by his weak excuses.
