Make Austin No-Kill!

In 2007, 13065 homeless pets were killed at Town Lake Animal Shelter in Austin, TX.   Why?  Not "because there are too many animals and not enough homes" (if that were true, there'd be no market for pets - pet stores would not be able to sell pets and breeders would not be able to sell pets), but because Town Lake Animal Shelter refuses to implement the proven no-kill equation of Nathan Winograd, instead preferring the unproven "Mission Orange" system of the ASPCA - maybe because the ASPCA gave the City $300,000?

Animal activists in Austin have tried for years to work with existing shelter management to no avail.  Nathan Winograd was brought in to help us achieve no-kill status and the Assistant Shelter Director, Dorinda Pulliam, refused to work with him.

We have decided it is time to fight back by getting Mr. Winograd's excellent Companion Animal Protection Act  passed by City Council.   If existing shelter management will not work with us voluntarily, the time has come to force them to work with us, before more animals die.
Please sign the petition to make Austin a No-Kill City by passing the Companion Animal Protection Act - and email your city council members as well!
