No Fish Farms In Broad Bay

The campaign to stop Lighthouse Caledonia Ltd's proposed fish farm in Broad Bay (Loch a'Tuath), is underway. (http://nofishfarmsinbroadbay.wordpress.com/)
At the end of October 2009, Lighthouse Caledonia Ltd (reg. office: Cairndow, ARGYLL PA26 8BH) lodged a planning application (ref: 09/00557/FFSCSC ) with CNES to develop a 'previously unused' marine site at Sron Alla Tolan, approx 1 mile off of the north shores of Gress beach. The application is now pending an environmental impact assessment, and the time is fast approaching when Lighthouse Caledonia and the planning authorities hear our opposition to this plan.
Anyone concerned about the marine, estuary and coastal environment of Broad Bay and the Isle of Lewis, and the local economy, should oppose this plan.
Why? Because the proposed fish farm will destroy the marine, coastal and estuary environments of this beautiful area; threaten the re-establishing salmon fisheries of the local river systems and have a huge negative impact on tourism and the local economy.
This is a shore to shelf campaign.
If you agree that this proposed fish farm should be stopped, join the campaign.
Write to your local MSP. Sign this petition. Join in the campaign activites. Spread the word.

We, the undersigned, recognise the long-term environmental and economic damage the proposed fish farm development in Broad Bay, Isle of Lewis, would do the island's environment and its economy, and hereby register our opposition to the proposed development .
We hereby call on Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar (CNES) and the Scottish Government, as principle planning authorities, to refuse Lighthouse Caledonia Ltd permission to build a fish farm in Broad Bay.
