Presidents' Climate Commitment at Dartmouth

We are members of the Dartmouth Community who encourage President Wright to sign the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment, and will support him in that action, for the betterment of Dartmouth and global society.

The ACUPCC is a feasible and flexible way to make Dartmouth's excellent ongoing efforts to address climate change and sustainability even more effective.  The Commitment will foster alignment around a common long-term goal, and Dartmouth will benefit from the benefits of collective action by joining nearly 500 of its peers.  Further, by joining the ACUPCC, Dartmouth will leverage its efforts well beyond campus, leading by example and serving as a role model for other institutions and other sectors of society, far more effectively than it can by acting alone.

The threat of run-away climate disruption requires urgent action, and signing the ACUPCC is a vital step for Dartmouth to take to live up to its values and fulfill its mission of preparing students for a lifetime of learning and of responsible leadership.

The ACUPCC is a commitment to develop a plan for eliminating greenhouse gas emissions in campus operations, and integrating sustainability into the educational experience.  The Commitment document is available at www.presidentsclimatecommitment.org.
