Say No To War - Bring The Troops Home

The President of the United States of America

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Washington DC, 20500.

Dear President Obama:

We are in an awful mess in our attempt to combat this "War on Terror".  I do not pretend to have all the answers but it seems to me we are in a no-win situation in Iraq that would be worse by going into Afghanistan.  I feel certain this decision weights heavy on you and implore you to consider using the hindsight of those who have gone before you.

Though not identical, your situation is strikingly similar to the one faced by President Johnson involving Vietnam.  Hindsight suggest the outcome could not have been worse had President Johnson refused to escalate.  In fact there is a strong argument to be made that we would have been considerably better advised to pull out early on.

We need to put all our resources, both human and monetary, to use in the best possible way.  Getting involved, more deeply involved, in a no win situation seems ill advised.  I want you to know that we are behind you if you should decide against war.

Don't make Afghanistan the Vietnam of the 21st Century.
