Urge SPCA Monterey County to Support the Tyke Exotic Animal Ordinance
The Monterey County SPCA does a good job of helping local wildlife, but they also need to protect captive wildlife, such as circus animals, from abuse. I am trying to bring an Exotic Animal Ordinance to Monterey County, to ensure that circuses that visit here do not have a history of animal abuse or citations with the USDA of serious violations of the Animal Welfare Act or ESA. The circuses have a long history of abusing and neglecting animals, including Endangered Asian and African Elelphants and Endangered Tigers, Primates, Rhinos and others. "Big Circus" does not want to see even small county ordinances passed that protect these animals, for obvious reasons. The SPCA has as one of it's missions to "oppose the use of exotic animals in circuses" and to "support legislation that pretects wildlife". It is time they do this and sign on as a supporter of the Tyke Odinance now! Please help me urge them to do the right thing and not the political thing.
