Volunteering should be equal!

In 1983, the FDA instilled a policy banning for life, people who have had at least one sexual relationship with the same sex, from donating blood. The reason the FDA chose to ban homosexuals from donating blood was the risk of HIV.  Recently there have been studies done and new information that shows that HIV can be detected much faster than before. This outdated policy leaves the question as to why homosexuals still can not donate blood. The FDA has said that they will change the policy when they are given data to show that by allowing homosexuals to donate blood it wouldn't give a significant and preventable risk to those receiving the blood. This petition is to support the idea that there is a way for homosexuals to be able to donate blood if they so choose.
