Recently the City of Ceske Budejovice cancelled the Free Time Park project which had been approved several times over the past 6 years. The city stated projects for children and the elderly community would take precedents over a project for teenagers. The Pratele Skateboardingu o.s. has been working with the town hall to clean up and better the current skatepark since 2009. The town hall has advised the non-profit organization that the land the park now stands on has been sold and the park must be moved in May of 2011. The town hall has stated the obstacles are not to European norms and must invest uncounted sums to enclose the structures and make guard rails. They have also stated a new surface will not be laid as a base for the park. They simply want to move the structures to a rough and rutted surface.We would like impress upon the city the importance of a smooth surface and more current, mainly cement, obstacles. A new project is in the works to move the park, make new more current obstacles, lay a new surface and build a roof over the new place allotted for the new skatepark. Your signature is a step to getting the town hall to fix the long existing problem in Ceske Budejovice between the skateboard/BMX community and the town hall.
