Locating a Kaiser Permanente facility in the Bayview Hunters Point area presents mutual benefits for Kaiser, the community, and the City of San Francisco.

Kaiser, come THRIVE with US...in Bayview.

Kaiser Permanente is a world-class health facility with the potential to increase access to its services for residents of an area of San Francisco that experiences abysmal health care outcomes.  Health inequities in this part of the city compromise greatly its residents’ ability to thrive and do well. Children living here experience higher incidences of asthma and suffer from more incidences of childhood trauma than do their peers in other parts of the city.

Kaiser currently serves approximately 3,000 customers in Bayview alone, but they must travel to South City or the Western Addition (which is nearly seven miles away on public transit and up to a 30 minute round trip drive). Traveling long distances to get to health services can act as a disincentive to accessing care. Locating a Kaiser Permanente facility in the Bayview will increase the likelihood that Kaiser’s members located in the southeastern part of the city proactively access care.

The area is home to a diversity of residents in terms of age, ethnicity, and income. It is: 1) close to highways and public transit, 2) in a growth mode with several thousand homes and apartments coming on line in the next few years, and 3) a family focused community. This diverse and vibrant neighborhood is the perfect location for Kaiser's growing health care network.
