Call for University Faculty Council Meeting

  • by: Garry Potter
  • recipient: Deborah MacClatchy Vice-president Academic Wilfrid Laurier University

1) We need to make a recommendation to Senate that in the event of a strike by either bargaining unit that all classes be cancelled. There are many reasons with respect to students' welfare why this is desirable.

2) We need a collective faculty set of recommendations with regard to the on-going governance review at Laurier.

Dear Dr. MacLatchy,
As per Senate By-law 5.7 and as outlined in the extended description of the University Faculty Council on the University web-site (http://legacy.wlu.ca/page.php?grp_id=317&p=23470), the WLU faculty signatories to this petition are submitting a request that a meeting of the University Faculty Council be called within ten days. The purpose of this call is to discuss a collective response to the governance review and also to consider a cancellation of classes in the event of a strike. We further request that the meeting be accessible to the Waterloo and Brantford campuses by the use of two-way video-conferencing. We suggest meeting on November 8, 9 or 10th at 6:00 pm but understand that any meeting is subject to your availability
