Stop Bear Pit Cruelty Nationwide!

Dozens of bears are suffering in crude roadside zoos across the U.S. Confined to small concrete pits with no trees to climb or dirt to dig, these bears are unable to exercise their natural behaviors and have nothing to do but beg tourists for food, pace and fight with each other. Sadly, the U.S. Government continues to license these cruel operations.

Not surprisingly, these bears are very unhappy and crave their natural environment. They cry out in frustration and present a danger to tourists who watch them from above and offer food. One girl was bit after feeding cereal to a bear in a North Carolina pit. The pit was then shut down, and the bears were transferred to a sanctuary where they now enjoy a natural environment and are clearly happier. Every bear should have the opportunity to climb, dig, bathe and play as nature intended.

Please sign the petition to urge the U.S. Government to stop licensing bear pits!

We are concerned with your practice of licensing small roadside zoos that keep bears in small concrete pits. With no trees to climb or dirt to dig, these bears are unable to exercise their natural behaviors and have nothing to do but beg tourists for food, pace and fight with each other.

We respectfully urge you to stop granting licenses to these types of operations. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
