We object to the proposed changes for Southside Park Phase 2 by the Dallas Township Supervisors

Our neighborhood is under attack by our Township Supervisors that want to destroy our neighborhood park. They are proposing 3 paved parking lots, a permanent hockey dek (that is about the size of a football field), public bathrooms, bleachers, a pavilion for possible rental, dog parks and electrical lighting. This is a very small park with deer that birth their babies and live there, 18-24 inch woodpeckers, bear, fox that have dens and raise their babies here. They will have to remove almost all of the trees surround the park and they want to reroute a stream that leads into a watershed. We are concerned about crime, garbage, homelessness, drugs, rapes, light, air and water pollution, increased property taxes and decrease in property values. The increased traffic will destroy our quality of life as well as all the trees which surround and are in the park and path.

We propose to make the park an environmental refuge for families, animals and visitors. Walking trails, keeping the trees that are not dying, a bike trail, benches for the seniors and families in the area. During covid this park was a refuge for people. Homeschooling took place outside in the park, picnics took place so families could gather together. A lot of people came to meditate by the stream and in the woods. Also the area is very obsured and could not be secured in any way.

We want the Township Supervisors to work and consult with us before any changes are made.
