“No Data Center in Grand Tower, Illinois”

To the elected officials, planning commissioners, and decision-makers responsible for development approvals in Grand Tower:

We, the undersigned residents, property owners, and supporters of Grand Tower, Illinois, respectfully oppose the proposed construction of a large-scale data center within or near our community.

Grand Tower is a small river town with a unique natural environment, rich history , and an amazing fauna that is known to the wetlands.  While economic development is important, this project raises serious concerns about long-term impacts to our town, residents, and the surrounding ecosystem. We love our little river town and the people in our community do not want a data center in or around our community. We want our voices to be heard and not shoved to the wayside. As we are the people who will be directly impacted by a data center in our town. Not only today but, for our future generations. Our families and our way of life is very important to us.

Our concerns include:

• Excessive water consumption that could strain local water resources and affect the Mississippi River ecosystem and nearby wetlands.
• Increased noise pollution from industrial cooling systems, backup generators, and constant operations that are incompatible with the quiet nature of our community.
• Heavy electrical demand and infrastructure expansion that may place stress on local utilities and alter the rural character of the area.
• Environmental risks associated with industrial-scale construction near flood-prone river land, including runoff, habitat disruption, health concerns, and heat pollution.
• Increased truck traffic, road wear, and safety concerns on roads not designed for large-scale industrial operations.
• Potential decline in property values and reduced quality of life for residents who chose Grand Tower because of its peaceful setting and natural beauty.
• Lack of transparency and meaningful community involvement in discussions that could permanently change the future of our town.

We believe development decisions should prioritize the health, safety, environment, and long-term interests of residents — not just outside corporate interests. Our residents want to be included in decision making and discussions that directly affects those that live in Grand Tower. We want our voice to be heard. And we stand strong together to protect our town and its people.
