Nepal Helped Save Vulnerable Rhinos. Now It Must Better Support the Communities Living Beside Them.

Nepal has become a global conservation success story. Thanks to years of protection efforts, the country's vulnerable rhinoceros population has rebounded after once facing the threat of extinction. But now, with the rhino population thriving, daily life can be dangerous for families living among them.

People continue with their lives, entering forests to collect firewood, grass, and other essentials, but often risking deadly encounters with the rhinos in order to survive.

Sign the petition to urge the Nepalese government to invest in more education, safety training, and support for communities living alongside rhinos.

One woman lost her husband after he went into the forest and never returned. Only his clothing was found. Years later, she is still forced to enter the forest herself because she has no other way to support her children. This doesn't have to happen.

Conservation efforts should not leave vulnerable families without protection or resources. Communities living closest to wildlife need education on safe coexistence, stronger emergency support systems, and sustainable alternatives that reduce dangerous encounters.

Thankfully, there are efforts being made to protect the locals. If the government helps expand education and training initiatives, more lives could be saved.

Sign the petition now to urge Nepal to strengthen education, training, and community support programs for the people most impacted by the rebounding rhino population.
