Citlali was raped at the age of 13: ask Mexican authorities to let her have an abortion!

Citlali, a 13 year old girl from the Mexican state of Sonora, was sexually assaulted in her home by a co-worker of her father. The same day she went to the police station, where they certified the physical violence and psychological harm that she had suffered.

Although in Mexico abortion is legal in cases of rape, no one offered Citlali emergency contraceptive pills. Worse, the judge in charge of her case has categorized the attack as a consensual statutory rape, thus barring Citlali from terminating the pregancy brought about by her attack.

Citlali, victim of a sexual assault at the age of 13, is now forced to have the baby, and the Mexican authorities are doing nothing to help, even when all experts agree that it was clearly a rape and a legal abortion is completely justified.

We can’t abandon Citlali to her fate: we must create a wave of international support to force the judge to rectify and qualify the sexual assault as a rape without consent or, at least, force Mexican authorities to allow Citlali to have an abortion. Join me and sign this petition to help Citlali now!

Claudia Artemiza Pavlovich Arellano, Governor of Sonora / Judge of the case,

Please, rectify and qualify the sexual assault that Citlali suffered at the age of 13 as a rape without consent or, at least, do not force Citlali to carry the pregnancy to term.
