A spray park is an outdoor recreational area that can provide a ton of fun and foundational skills for children. Current plans for the newly designed Henrietta Recreation Center include options for indoor sports and recreation and are geared towards an older population. A pool would be a huge asset to the community center however considering the operation, building and maintenance costs of a pool, a more affordable option is available. A spray park would require very little operation cost, maintenance and far less liability than a standard pool. Spray parks don't have standing water, which is often a safety risk and requires the supervision of a lifeguard. Several neighboring towns have built these spray parks and they have been successful with bringing in new people from neighboring towns (such as myself) to experience what their town has to offer. Spray Parks also offer some relief to town residents on hot summer days. Spray Parks are enjoyable for younger populations of kids and provide an opportunity to build gross motor, sensorimotor and play skills through recreation. A spray park would enhance the available options for outdoor fun and health in Henrietta. Join the petition to ask that the Town of Henrietta include a spray park in their building plans for all Henrietta residents and neighbors to enjoy!
