Support a New 60 Minutes Led by the Journalists Who Made the OG 60 Minutes Great
For decades, viewers have relied on the style of journalism exemplified by 60 Minutes: deeply reported investigations, compelling storytelling, and interviews that hold powerful institutions accountable.
Scott Pelley, Cecilia Vega, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Tanya Simon were fired recently from 60 Minutes for doing these very things.
We, the undersigned, respectfully encourage Scott Pelley, Cecilia Vega, Sharyn Alfonsi, and their colleagues to consider launching a new independent investigative news magazine program led by Tanya Simon. Many viewers believe there is strong demand for a new weekly news magazine that preserves these traditions while embracing editorial independence and innovation.
A new program could offer:
* Long-form investigative journalism
* In-depth interviews with influential figures
* Coverage of issues that affect citizens around the world
* Rigorous fact-checking and accountability reporting
* A trusted source of nonpartisan, high-quality journalism
This petition is non-binding and intended solely as an expression of public interest and support. It reflects the belief that experienced journalists and producers who have helped define excellence in television news could successfully build a new platform for investigative reporting.
