End Qualified Immunity for Police Officers

Body:

We, the undersigned, believe that police officers must be held accountable for their actions. Qualified immunity is a legal doctrine that shields police officers from being held personally liable for actions taken while performing their duties. This doctrine has been used to protect officers who have engaged in excessive force, racial profiling, and other forms of misconduct.

We believe that qualified immunity contributes to a culture of impunity within law enforcement, which undermines public trust in the police and the justice system as a whole. It sends the message that police officers are above the law and can act with impunity, even when they violate people's rights.

Therefore, we call on federal and state lawmakers to end qualified immunity for police officers. Police officers must be held accountable for their actions, and removing qualified immunity is a critical step toward ensuring that police officers are held to the same standards as other citizens.

We urge lawmakers to take action to end qualified immunity and restore public trust in law enforcement. We believe that this change will help foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and respect within the police force and create a safer, more just society for all.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue.

Sincerely,

WE THE PEOPLE
