Justice for Deputy Cameron Brewer, Harris County Sheriff Office-Houston, Texas

This petition is in support of helping Deputy Cameron Brewer get his appeal granted and return to work as a deputy for the Harris County Sheriffs Office. My reason for this petition is because I believe and feel that Deputy Brewer was wrongfully terminated based upon his decision to protect not only himself but those in the surrounding community. A decision that he had to quickly make which forced him to use lethal force on a local unarmed citizen.

This person was said to not to have a weapon at the time, but was clearly incoherent and not following the deputy's commands. He was repeatedly given commands yet he continued to make advances and proceeded to walk towards the deputy. This was not a reason for him die, yet this was a situation where you don't know what this persons intentions were at the time. Many argue the fact the suspect could have been tased, but based on proven facts and prior experience of the deputy that would not have been an effective decision while on scene this very day.

My concern here is to see justice served on his behalf. This was not an attempt to kill. This was not another unjustified police shooting. This was simply a man trying to do his job, and that is to Protect and Serve. In addition to seeing justice for Deputy Brewer I would like to see more laws implemented and enforced within policies that protect Law Enforcement when faced with these type of situations. In spite of what we've seen in the media highlighting police Murders, Shootings, and Brutality not every situation should fall in this category. Law Enforcement is forced to take actions on any given situation that relates to him or her protecting themselves and those around him.
