GIVE THE DOGS AT BRISTOL CT ANIMAL CONTROL SHELTER A BETTER LIFE!

The Bristol Animal Control facility is undermanned, underfunded and outdated, causing the dogs there to suffer poor conditions and have poor chances of adoption.
Dog food comes from donations only. There is no budget for veterinarian care. The current 2-person ACO's do not have time to do many of the things necessary to keep the dogs healthy mentally and physically.
Friends of Bristol CT Animal Shelter proposes allowing the volunteers in our insured non-profit organization access to the building in order to :

1. Cleanup the outside exercise areaand help exercise the dogs who now get virtually no outside exercise
2. Maintain the kennels in a clean condition and provide comfortable, chewproof beds as well as toys for the dogs
3. Be allowed to transport the dogs to and from the vet for spay/neuter/vaccinate under the state voucher system
4. Keep petfinder.com up-to-date with photos and information on all dogs in the shelter
5. Run adoption days when people can come inquire about adoption without an appointment
6. Start a chip-in account for the local vet in case a dog needs health care
7. Run fundraisers for the betterment of the dogs and for improvements to the facility itself

We also encourage the City to hire a 3rd ACO as 2 is not sufficient for a city our size
