West Virginia must have a budget in place before the June 30 fiscal year end or face a costly government shutdown. Governor Justice vetoed the budget passed by both chambers on the last day of the session.
Delegates Michael Folk and Patrick McGeehan worked for weeks to draft a budget that will not raise taxes. It is a budget that West Virginians can afford and even provides a 2% raise for public school teachers, but it has not been considered by the Governor or either chamber.
Special sessions cost taxpayers $35,000.00 per day in money we simply don't have. It is time to give this budget plan the review the taxpayers of West Virginia deserve.
