18-Year-Old Gang Raped by College Athletes and Discouraged From Reporting

An 18-year-old female student at Michigan State University was allegedly drugged and raped by three basketball players at the school. When she told the school's counseling center, two counselors discouraged her from reporting and didn't give her the proper resources like how to get STI testing.

Please sign my petition to demand that these two counselors are fired immediately.

It's a common story - male athletes believing they are entitled to anything they want, including women's bodies. The victim in this case met the players at a bar, where they gave her a drink that practically knocked her out. She said she couldn't even use her thumbs because she was so out of it -- after just a few sips. Then they took her back to an apartment and took turns raping her.

The gang rape this woman suffered is horrifying enough, but then she went to people who should have helped her and they revictimized her. Counselers behaving in this way is one big reason many people never tell anyone about an assault. This was an 18-year-old who just suffered a major violent sexual crime and the counselors did nothing to help her.

Anyone in a position to counsel young women should be equipped to give them all the help and resources they needed. They should also encourage that person to report if she wants to, not discourage it from the outset just because her rapists are athletes.

I cannot believe these counselors still work at MSU. Please sign the petition to tell MSU they should fire the counselors right away.
