Make Congress Extend the Mortgage Debt Tax Relief Act Before the End of the Year!

A Clear and Present Danger to Families Taxed Unfairly.
    • Families harmed by the financial downturn of 2007 are still hurting and still losing their homes which they cannot afford to pay for.
    • Even when banks accept less than that owed, the IRS considers the difference to be TAXABLE INCOME. How can people who cannot afford their house payment possibly pay taxes on money they will NEVER see?
    • Congress has previously passed RELIEF from this burden and extended Mortgage Debt Tax Relief more than once.
    • EXTENDING SUCH RELIEF HAS NOT BEEN GRANTED FOR 2017. Concern about tax reform is holding back this basic human need.
    • Congress MUST ACT before December 31, 2017, for all those harmed by this to be released from an unfair and UNPAYABLE burden for one more year. S. 122: Mortgage Debt Tax Relief Act was initiated last January.
