STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST ALL WOMEN
I am a woman who was in an abusive relationship for three years with a man I thought I knew but as truth would have it, I didn't know him at all. We met online through mutual friends and at the time I did not see any harm in it considering that I had a family member who met someone online.
The first six months of our relationship were good until I discovered he was leading a double life-he has a wife. He denied it at first but after grueling him for several hours and days he came clean. I will admit I was devastated but I allowed him to stay in my life.
For three years I dealt with the lies, cheating, and just when I thought he could not stoop any lower, the unthinkable happened.
For three years I lived in fright, and not knowing what would happen next. I almost lost my life and on January 1, 2008 I finally said 'enough was enough'. What makes this petition all the more important to me is because not only am I a woman but I am physically disabled (Use a wheelchair full-time).
Too think that a man could put his hands on a woman is unthinkable but to a woman who had no means of protecting herself, is even more unthinkable. None the less, he was never prosecuted and never faced jail time for abusing me.
That is why I ask you today to please help me fight back against police departments nationwide, congress, senate and etc and make them stand up and protect us. We did not ask to be abused but we do have a right to be protected.
If you or anyone you know of currently was/are involved in abusive relationship, please sign this petition on their behalf. We do not deserve to be abused by no one, even the system that claims to protect us.
I am a woman who was involved for three years with a man who claimed he loved me but put his hands on me and raped me. This was my hellish nightmare for three years, and to make matters worse A) He was never arrested nor prosecuted and B) I am disabled (use a wheelchair full-time). No one protected me from him and I see and read about it every day and it is time to put our feet down and speak out.
"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"Please help stop domestic violence and make the abuser's pay. Speak out to the police, senate, congress...etc and tell them
"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH".
Every signature is valuable in reaching that goal to heal those who have been or were affected by domestic violence whether they were the one being abused or witness another being abused.
My heart goes out to all those women and children who are trapped and feel they have no other place to go, or have escaped their abuser as I did in January of this year.
There are other options, because no one regardless has the right to be abused by anyone in any shape or form.
Mental, Sexual, Financial, Physical abuse IS NOT OKAY!!!
Don't ever blame yourself or ask yourself 'what did I do', because YOU DID NOTHING WRONG.
Hold your head up high and say it loud
