We, the undersigned citizens of the United States, hereby petition the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee of the U.S. Postal Service to recommend the issuance of a postage stamp celebrating the holiday of Vesak (or Vesakha), which commemorates the Birth of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha. Buddhism is currently the fourth largest religion in the U.S., and since stamps have been issued honoring Christian, Jewish, and Islamic holidays, we believe that the time has come to issue a stamp honoring the main Buddhist holiday.
