Allow children in strollers on Butte County buses!

Currently B-Line rules require babies and young children to be removed from strollers and that strollers then be folded before riding the bus and for the duration of the trip.

It is nearly impossible to do that safely while holding a baby, a diaper bag and a bag of groceries, let alone with multiple children! Many parents and caregivers avoid taking the bus as a result.

However some parents don't have alternatives to the bus for transportation, and a policy like this has a greater impact on disabled and low-income parents! This is an issue of assessability and safety.

Many cities in the US (Seattle, Portland, Boston, Chicago, L.A., San Francisco, Dalles-Fort Worth, Phoenix, Philadelphia) and worldwide (London, Paris, Toronto, Syndey) allow open strollers on buses, with consideration of how full the bus is, and always giving priority to wheelchairs.

B-Line must make the change to allow children to remaining seated in strollers, which is done safely in buses across the country.

Parents and children deserve access to public transportation that doesn't compromise their safety or dignity. Parents, child minders and advocates - sign now and make your voice heard.
