Calling for Lobbying Reform---stop the bribery!

It is common knowledge that lobbying is a problem in Washington.  What is not commonly known is how big a problem it is, and that it nearly always works against the common citizen's concerns.  Most of the high paying lobbyists come from big cooperations including companies in the oil, automotive, health insurance, and pharmacutical industries.  Can we expect to make any headway in the interest of the common man in America, while our government leaders are lining their pockets with such large sums of cooperate money?  Whether its promises of future executive positions, or campaigne contributions, most of these companies are bribing our officials at all levels with sums counted in tens of thousands.  Could you say no to a couple hundred thousand, just to simply do the right thing, and probably not get re-elected because you don't have enough money to pay for adds?  Of course not.  We need to give them a reason to think twice before giving in.  If you are worried about government corruption, and you want your government to start working for 'we the people' sign this petition and pass it along to your friends.
To whom it may concern among our elected officials,

We are sick of politics as usual.  We are sick of liberals and conservatives alike leaning toward special interest groups fed by cooperate money.  We want you to make decisions based on what's good for the country, not based on what's good for the next campainge budget.  Though we do believe that you should be open to hearing a multitude of concerns, and you should be able to raise money for your campaignes, let's at least put some controls in place to limit the amount of money that can be donated from one source.  We would also like to see stricter controls put in place to limit the access anyone who works as a lobbyist has to government officials, and this includes previous office holders.  As soon as someone has been hired to work for a cooperate interest they should be treated the same as any other lobbyist, and lobbyists as a whole should not have more access to government officials then the general public.  The whole lobbying system needs urgent reform, or we can expect to see government corruption spread, and the very foundations that our democracy was based on threatened.  Without any controls, the voice of the people will become a distant memory, and will be replaced with the commands of the rich over a conveniently misinformed widening poor.
