No nuclear mining or power in Australia

This is a call to the Australian Government that we the people of Australia want no part in continuing the spread of nuclear technology throughout the world.

Nuclear technology is being hailed as "green", and yet nuclear disasters, while rare, have the potential to render large parts of the world inhabitable for huge amounts of time.

The Fukushima power plant disaster, still ongoing, should have been the last straw on nuclear energy. See http://fukushimaupdate.com/ for details on this.

By continuing to mine nuclear fuels, we contribute to disasters like the one in Fukushima. Let's tell our Government that we do not want nuclear power here, and that we do not want to contribute to it in any other part of our planet.

To the Australian Federal Government,

We the undersigned are opposed to all nuclear activity in our country Australia. We do not want any nuclear power here. We are also opposed to the mining of all radioactive fuels including uranium.

We believe that the use of nuclear energy is a grave threat to the future of humanity, as evidenced by the few, but very serious, nuclear disasters that have occurred elsewhere in the world. The Fukushima disaster, which is still ongoing, is a testament to the widespread impact these disasters can have.

We call on you to begin closing down all nuclear mines. We wish to once again stress that we are opposed to any nuclear power plants opening here in Australia.

Sincerely,

The people of Australia
